The
Materials Processing and Testing Laboratory has facilities that
can handle and process the materials needed in highway research.
They include specialized equipment for soils, aggregates, asphalt
binder, hot-mix asphalt, and Portland cement concrete. The laboratory
houses several servo-hydraulic systems for materials testing,
SuperPave TM binder and hot-mix asphalt equipment, linear rolling
wheel compactor, triaxial shear apparatus, aggregate image analyzer,
UI-FastCell capable of 3D dynamic loading, as well as specialty
designed devices including a system for reflective cracking research.
Large frames for full-size testing of slabs and railroad beams
are also available. |
