AGENDA (.pdf file)
The mid-year meeting of the RILEM Technical Committee 210 on Cracking of Asphalt Pavements, which oversees the organization of the RILEM series of International Conferences on Cracking in Pavements, will be held on Wednesday, June 18.
The scientific goal of the technical committee is to advance understanding of the cracking process via laboratory and computational studies. The main objectives are the establishment of laboratory procedures capable of objectively quantifying the process of crack initiation and propagation in asphaltic concrete and, the development of a physically correct and computationally robust and efficient model for simulation of the crack initiation and crack propagation processes. The model shall be calibrated versus laboratory tests and validated with field data.
The committee consists of 3 focused Task Groups (TG): TG1 focuses on the collection, evaluation and selection of field data, TG2 on the collection, evaluation, selection and improvement of laboratory techniques and TG3 on the collection, evaluation, selection, calibration and improvement of predictive models.
The target group includes academic and industrial researchers, standards organizations, designers of pavement constructions and asphaltic product manufacturers. The knowledge produced by the Technical Committee shall enable more accurate risk assessment of the service life of asphaltic pavements and also will enable the development and utilization of asphaltic products with improvement cracking resistance. Thus, it will improve the economic use of the material. |
