ICT Director Receives Two ASCE Honors
Professor Imad L. Al-Qadi, the Director of ICT, is the recipient of the 2007 American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) prestigious James Laurie Prize and was also recently appointed to the Board of Governors of the Transportation and Development Institute (T&DI) of ASCE.The James Laurie prize is awarded annually to a member of ASCE who has made a definite contribution to the advancement of transportation engineering, either in research, planning, design, or construction, these contributions being made either in the form of papers or other written presentations, or through notable performance or specific actions which have served to advance transportation engineering. Al-Qadi, an ASCE Fellow, was cited for advancing transportation engineering through his effective leadership, exceptional scholarly contribution, and research innovations on pavement materials, analysis and design; pavement instrumentation; ground penetrating radar; and pavement interlayer systems.
Al-Qadi was also appointed to the Board of Governors of the T&DI of ASCE. The Board is responsible for the direction, strategic planning, and activities of the T&DI including the technical committees and special conferences on transportation. The T&DI is comprised of over 15,000 dedicated members ranging from engineers to scientists, all of whom come together to share a common vision of becoming a global leader for integrated transportation and development that is safe, secure and sustainable.
