ICT Facilitates Workshop on Wide-Base Tire
ICT was instrumental in initiating the International Workshop on Wide-Base Tire that was held October 25-26, 2007, at the Federal Highway Administration Turner Fairbank Highway Research Center (TFHRC) in Mclean, Virginia and organized by the Asphalt Research Consortium (ARC). The workshop, which was by invitation only, gathered representatives of trucking and tire industries, the EPA, and transportation agencies, as well as renowned researchers on tire-pavement interaction from around the world. Professor Al-Qadi presented the history of research on the wide-base tire, the current research and state-of-the-art on modeling, pavement response, and validation, and the future directions of research in this field. The ICT will be taking the lead on the national pool fund study on this topic with Illinois being the lead state.
